Why isn’t mother capitalized? Visually what would be seen as an error is a deliberate rebellion against rigid social norms. Disruption shifts the focus to identity reclamation.

For most of the word "mother" conjures a nurturing feminine figure, a passive role. This exhibition is to showcase the mother in a capacity outside our current hegemony.

Why am I doing this?

I am curating this exhibition because I believe that representation in art is crucial for our community. This gives an opportunity to showcase the unique intersectional experience that is ubiquitous to us all.

I want our audience to come out with a newfound sense of awe when the mother is displayed with immense power.

Who can submit their artwork?

If you are a human with emotions, thoughts, and or opinions. (If you are an animal with special artistic talents, please have your human handler apply.)

What kind of artwork do you accept?

I am accepting 2D and 3D works. Paintings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, multimedia, digital, instillations*

Is there a deadline for submissions?

Yes. The submission form will automatically close 11:59 PM September 30th, 2026

When is the exhibition?

October 14th-23rd, 2026

How will I know my work got accepted?

You will be notified by October 5th, 2026 with an acceptance or declination email.

Will I have to put up my own work?

No, there will be designated pick up and drop off times and locations that will be detailed in your acceptance email.

Will there be a reception?

Yes! Invite friends and enemies. October 15th, 2026 @ 7PM
